Mill Hill Focus #43 - Holiday season round up and other Mill Hill News

The Holiday Season is nearly upon us. So we thought we'd start with a roundup of all the festivities and fun in Mill Hill over the coming few weeks. Lets start though with some of the festivities which occurred earlier in the week, with the lighting of candles on the Mill Hill Menorah. It was great to see the local Jewish community and friends out celebrating.

Last night we had a fantastic carol service hosted by The Pro Arte Choir at St Michael and All Angels church. The church was packed and a great time was had by all.

RUGBY CONFIRMATION DEC18
Maro Itoje
Another amazing event for young people in the Mill Hill Roman Catholic Community occurred this week, when their confirmation group was addressed by England and Saracens Rugby player. Father Michael at the Sacred Heart is keen on giving young people in the congregation positive role models from our community. I am sure that everyone from all communities across Mill Hill will feel a great deal of pride that such an amazing sportsman has grown up in Mill Hill and is still living in the area, playing for such a great Rugby club. We hear so many negative things in the press about our young people it really is important to stress that so many are so wonderful. I am sure Maro would be a real inspiration for all who attended.

So what have we got coming up in our festive diary?

The #SaveLondonMusic Campaign and Barnet Eye Xmas Party and Community Awards

Anyone who has attended previous years will know that this will be a whole lot of fun. It is being staged for the first time in Mill Hill at the Rugby club and is free to enter. The beer is cheap and good quality and the club is a very family friendly environment. They kindly offered to host the event after winning The Barnet Eye Community Sports Club of the Year in Barnet in 2017 for their work with Colindale Foodbank and their community scheme in partnership with Barnet Mencap.

Other Mill Hill News

So what else has been happening around Mill Hill. Here's our round up

More fly tipping in Goodwyn Avenue

We are sad to report that there seems to be no end to this. As it happens on a weekly basis, usually at weekend, we urge the council to invest in some surveillance to catch the anti social individuals who clearly think that dumping in our high street is fine and no one cares.

Disrepair at Mill Hill Subway

Mill Hill Residents are fed up with the lack of maintenance at Mill Hill Subway. These pools of water etc, will pose a real hazard when the temperatures drop to freezing

Barratts Construction Traffic
Barratt London have decided to go ahead as planned and use a gate off Burtonhole Lane for their construction traffic.  Despite an active enforcement they have done nothing to ensure they comply with their Construction Management Plan and continue to ignore residents. It is obvious that having to make a tight turn from The Ridgeway will caused even more traffic chaos. (Thanks to Zoe on Inside Mill Hill)
